Defensive Driver Training is "training drivers to save lives, time and money" in spite of the conditions around them and the actions of other circumstances.
Defensive Driver Training is an addition to K53 were the requirement is, driver improvement as opposed to licensing.
Defensive Driver Training is a form of training for motor vehicle drivers that goes beyond mastery of the rules of the road and the basic mechanics of driving.
Defensive Driver Training is aimed is to reduce the risk of collision by anticipating dangerous situations, despite adverse conditions or the mistakes of other drivers.
This is achieved through adherence to a variety of general guidelines, such as: safe following distances,  clear distance ahead and two second rules, as well as the practice of specific driving and accident avoidance techniques.
Defensive Driver Training is Based on the SAQA (South African Qualification Authorities) Unit Standard 377201 Apply advanced driving skills: Defensive Driving NQF Level 5 Credits 6 and is presented as an accredited program.

The Advanced Defensive Driver Training program is often misinterpreted as Advanced Driving. This is not correct, Advanced Driving is a complete product on it's own and can be done in addition to the Advanced Defensive Driver Program.


Defensive Driver Training is presented to Recreational, Commercial and Professional Drivers throughout Southern Africa and its Neighboring countries.
African Off-Road Academy presents Defensive Driver Training through qualified Instructors, Assessors and Moderators.
